Demonstration Site

The third IAO airport demonstration will take place at Nice airport. It is the third busiest airport in France with 164.336 movements handled in 2016 and high seasonal traffic peaks. Nice airport has a complex runway layout with two dependent parallel runways, where the inner runway is used for landing and the outer for departure. In addition, the movement area is highly geographically constrained considering the amount of traffic.

Content of the Demo

The demonstration at Nice airport will present a system that provides planned taxi routes for aircraft and enables controllers to update it with all clearances given over radio to aircraft. The departure manager (DMAN) will also take into consideration additional data, provided by the advanced Surface Movement planned taxi routes. Furthermore, the Nice demonstration will address the detection of Conflicting ATC Clearances (CATC) and Conformance Monitoring Alerts for Controllers (CMAC). Provided the participation of an airline, the added value of planned route sharing with aircraft equipped with an airborne solution (Airbus) will be demonstrated, as well.

The Nice demonstration will thus cover the following SESAR Solutions:
